Conducting Gap Analysis for IT Disaster Recovery

Business Critical Applications and Infrastructure are analysed for gaps related to Disaster Recovery (DR). DR Gaps w.r.t. server/ database failover to alternate datacentre, availability of storage at alternate datacentre and recovery documentation are assessed. Risks and mitigations are addressed by creating IS Projects.

Based on BIA and RTO (Recovery Time Objective), the applications are prioritized and analysed in phases. Information from available repositories such Support Manuals, CMDB (Configuration Management Database), Project Profiles are reviewed to develop AS-IS and TO-BE setup for Application DR. The closure plans are recommended for identified gaps and are reviewed with all stakeholders before creating Infrastructure Projects. The architecture diagrams for AS-IS DR setup is developed to illustrate Single Point of Failure (SPoF). The TO-BE architecture diagrams are developed to enable Disaster Recovery for the application.
